In order to fully engage teams, team members must connect with both the purpose that provides direction (the why) behind what they are asked to do and the purpose that connects the work they do to something bigger. In this session, we will share examples of how teams from across UW are connecting teams to purpose and help attendees identify opportunities in their work areas.
Coaching is a vital role of a leader in a management system that aims to create a culture of daily team-based problem solving. But what is coaching and how might that be different from the way I currently lead my team? Why do we coach? What are the keys to great coaching? In this session, we will begin to answer these questions and discuss the role coaching plays in, not only engaging, but bringing the best out of every team member.
We spend a lot of our life at work—so let’s have some fun along the way! In this session, we will discuss the keys to focused fun and share examples from UW teams. Attendees will have the opportunity to identify processes in their area that could be more engaging and benefit from the addition of some fun as well as learn how to get started introducing this concept to their team.
In the second course of the Daily Kaizen Series, gain an understanding in solving complex problems that lead to impacting results. Discussion of different problem solving tools and how to measure the impact of results at the team level.
In the final course of the Daily Kaizen Series, gain an understanding of the “why” or importance of recognizing ideal behaviors. Discussion of the keys to recognizing ideal behaviors with examples from a number of UW Lean teams.
